The Money Monster

by Chris Courtney Martin

The Money Monster

is back again.

Rasping 'gainst my ear.

Stoking up my fear.

Bids me, 'Disappear.'

The Money Monster

clings to me.

Breathing down my nape.

Bending out of shape.

Taunts me, 'No escape.'

I buried it with spade and hope.

It found me, decked with blade and rope.

A reach which gropes beyond the scope

of mere mortal's resistance.

I am offered no assistance.

The Money Monster

has its way

with bones of one

who could not pay.
